Comprises architectural records of Alexander Norman Henderson and his partners and predecessors Alfred E.H. Carleton, Charles Richard Carleton, John Butler and Stanley Korvin. Projects included banks, including numerous branches of the Commercial Bank of Australia; churches; offices; hotels; public buildings; residences and schools. These were mainly in Melbourne and country Victoria but occasionally interstate. Files contain correspondence; contracts; plans; specifications; financial records; press cuttings; manufacturers' advertisements; Victorian and local government acts, regulations and other publications; and photographic prints and negatives.

In 1898, Ward and Carleton, architects and surveyors, were at Lincoln Chambers, 341 Collins St, Melb. Alfred E.H. Carleton (d. 1936) was practising alone by 1913. Charles Richard Carleton (d. 1953) returned from the war and became his father's partner, 1919. They moved to New Zealand Chambers, 483 Collins St, 1923. Charles moved to 'Vaughan', 108 Queen St, 1938. He joined the Corps of Aust. Engineers, 1942. The practice resumed as Carleton and Henderson at 346 Swanston St, 1946, moving to Lancas...
